We Educate for a Living:
Every head coach in our elementary and middle school program is a MCPS school teacher. We view the field as an extension of the classroom and apply the same teaching practices. We are effective communicators who set routines and expectations, differentiate and scaffold instruction, as well as manage a variety of personalities, skill sets, and individual needs on a daily basis. Most importantly, we are genuine caring role models that have your child’s best interests at heart.
We Believe in Our System & Progression:
Elementary Level (Grades 1 - 5):
Structured to be a positive and safe learning environment where players have a positive experience with the sport of lacrosse and show growth as players as well as individuals. A heavy emphasis is placed on improving fundamentals and the character building aspects of the sport. Players will gain lacrosse IQ through controlled scrimmages, practices, and games against appropriately matched opponents. By the time players reach the middle school level, they should be able to catch and throw on the run, play excellent position defense, understand positions in rides/clears, and run an effective motion offense.
Middle School Level (Grades 6 - 8):
Designed to prepare players for competitive high school lacrosse. Fundamentals are mastered through a year round program that features repetition and quality instruction. Lacrosse IQ is expanded with more complex offensive and defensive concepts. Confidence is built through appropriate rigorous game play.
High School Level (Grades 9 - 12):
Organized for athletes who are hungry to be the best and want to receive college recruiting guidance. We teach and emphasize speed, lacrosse IQ, and expect our players to bring a tenacious attitude and work ethic to every practice and game. We play in the most competitive lacrosse recruiting tournaments in the Mid-Atlantic region, offering our players exposure to DI, DII, and DIII college recruiters. Our goal is to elevate our players’ games every time they come back to the field and provide them opportunities and exposure to play at the collegiate level. We have several MDX alum currently playing at the DI, DII, DIII, and JUCO levels.
We Are Built on Principles and Values:
We believe honesty is the best policy and our winning formula is built off the process of progression, continuity, and the core values of hard work, teamwork, determination, dedication, commitment, resilience, and good sportsmanship.
At MDX, we want to provide the community with a quality club program in their own “backyard.” Olney and the greater Montgomery County area is a great community with a lot of tradition as well as pride. MDX wants to harness that pride and carry it into our program. We partner with many local recreation lacrosse clubs to help establish and provide an opportunity for players to grow and further develop their skill sets and lacrosse IQs at a more competitive and rigorous level.
By participating in seasonal team socials, both players, parents, and coaches build bonds that go much further than the sport of lacrosse. Through hard work, dedication, and goal setting, friendships are established, memories are made, and a lot of fun is had!
